Grand Opening of the 10th Shanghai Landscape Forum: Focus on Climate Action

On November 18, 2023, the 10th Shanghai Landscape Forum opened at 800 Changde Road, Shanghai, marking the launch of one of the most important parts of the 5th Shanghai International Design Festival. With the theme of "Climate Action. Now!", the forum will focus on the urgent topic of global climate change, discussing coping strategies and innovative design concepts.

Dr. Zhu Liqing, founder and chief designer of the firm, was invited to share his insights on the Huangpu River with the attendees during the roundtable session of the Landscape Forum. Dr. Zhu shared his thoughts on the multi-layered blue-green-gray synergy of the Huangpu River waterfront, highlighting its importance for climate change adaptation. This discussion not only exemplified nature-based solutions (NbS) and the harmonious coexistence of human and natural environments, but also emphasized the critical role of landscape architecture in combating climate change.

The roundtable session was moderated by Ms. Zhang Dou, Director of SASAKI China, and closed by Mr. Lee Parks, Executive Director of AECOM. The forum gathered domestic and international design experts, scholars, and professionals in related fields, aiming to promote climate action and sustainable development practices through communication and collaboration. This event not only provides a platform for participants to learn from each other and inspire their thinking but is also of great significance for the public to enhance environmental awareness and participate in climate action.

In the future, we expect the Shanghai Landscape Forum to continue to lead the design community and contribute to building a more sustainable and livable urban environment.

On November 16th, the opening ceremony of the 5th Shanghai International Design Festival (SIDF) 2023 with the theme of "Symbiosis - Intelligent Exchange" will return to Jing'an "800 Show" again to hold a grand opening, and the event will last until November 19th.
